索尔•贝娄 Saul Bellow，1915-2005 美国犹太裔作家。生于加拿大魁北克省的拉辛，在蒙特利尔度过童年。1924年，举家迁至美国芝加哥。1933年，贝娄考入芝加哥大学。两年后，转入伊利诺伊州埃文斯顿的西北大学，获得社会学和人类学学士学位。同年，赴威斯康星大学攻读硕士学位。自1938年以来，当过编辑和记者，并于第二次世界大战期间在海上短期服过役外，他长期在芝加哥等几所大学执教。 索尔•贝娄是唯一一位凭借《奥吉•马奇历险记》《赫索格》《赛姆勒先生的行星》三次获得美国国家图书奖的作家。1975年，凭借小说《洪堡的礼物》获得普利策奖；1976年，获得诺贝尔文学奖。
